President's Perspective

Members,

As we enter into the second half of this years activities I can't help but reflect how much has been accomplished since the AAAA National Convention. Throughout the year we continue to respond to requests for assistance; provide phone cards for returning Wounded Warriors; support Enlisted/NCO soldiers of the quarter/year and most recently school supplies.

Our annual Scholarship donations were approximately $50K which enabled the allocation of 30 awards. We had an all time high number of 63 applicants for scholarships this year. The student recipients will be announced late August. The golf outings were great - both our annual and the Utility events generated important Scholarship donations. The most significant milestone for TVC was documenting 2004 members in June. We are now the largest AAAA Chapter, followed by Ft. Rucker. Socials continued according to our events calendar enabling networking and just plain AAAA fun. New officers along with serving incumbents will begin their new terms this October. Congratulations to all, especially David Kather new VP Publicity and Janice Sanders new VP Awards. Your Board also conducted a Grey Beard session with retired senior members of our chapter. This review provided a wide range of suggestions and comments, all intended to improve the TVC.

Going forward we will conduct a smooth transition for new Board officers. I have been asked and will serve as the VP for Chapter Affairs at the National level. This additional responsibility seems to be a natural fit as the TVC provides the widest range of activities of all the other chapters. Last, but not least; I am extremely pleased that Hawk Enterprises has agreed to create a new web site for the TVC (TVCAAAA.org). We will convert much of the existing information, update the rest to include video capability to cover events like OSM and social activities. As always, many thanks to all volunteers across our chapter that continue to make the TVC what it is.
